Copenhagen Diary

Reflecting on Copenhagen's '3daysofdesign'

Recently, I was fortunate enough to embark on a trip to Copenhagen for the first time, which was equal parts restful and invigorating. There is something so special about the pace at which they move over there. There's a kind of intentionality and effortless effort at the core of their daily life, which has really stuck with me.

The city is laid back, but it doesn't drag into a lack of care or seriousness. They are serious about art, about wine, about coffee, about lingering, about play - and about work.

Taking heavy cues from the original floor plan and set decoration, we collaborated with BassamFellows to dress the space with some of our own objects, paying homage to the original details in The Glass House (with some liberties taken). The collaboration was harmonious, with both practices engaging in a dialogue around simplicity, functionalism and the exploration of silhouette. I couldn't think of a more fitting setting to unveil our newest object - the Champagne Bucket, cast in solid aluminium, generously portioned and boasting in mass and asymmetry.

Although it was lovely being able to visit some iconic galleries, everyday hang out spots and bucket-list restaurants, the main purpose of my time away was to showcase as part of the 3daysofdesign festival. We showcased in partnership with BassamFellows, who did a wonderful job at reimagining The Glass House designed by Philip Johnson to celebrate the launch of their production of his famous floor lamp.

The Champagne Bucket was conceived as a means of evolving traditional approaches and understandings of vessels, as well as offering an alternative to those who dare to venture beyond the norm.

Use it for chilling your favourite wines, or to display sizeable flowers, or as a sculpture on display in an entryway. Our hope is that you make it your own. Due to the way we cast these, each piece is unique. It's only fair that their function follows suit.

The Champagne Bucket is on view in our Paddington Showroom. For more information, product specifications and purchase instructions, please visit us in store or on our website.

Crafted, polished and finished right here in Sydney, AU.

Cheers,
